Walt Disney Studio Visit!

Posted on: Monday, September 29th, 2008 in: Adventures in La La Land, Disney Channel News

In quite possibly the best unintentional birthday present ever, I was invited to the Walt Disney studios in Burbank on September 26th 2008.

Disney was hosting a science and technology exhibition called TechRush08 and had invited local college students to attend; I of course was quite happy to attend!

The conference was hosted in the Frank Wells building.

The Walt Disney Studios

Which is located directly across Legends plaza from the Team Disney Building, the headquarters for the entire company.

The Walt Disney Studios

Other notable landmarks include the famous signpoast at the corner of Mickey Avenue and Dopey Drive. The sign was created as a movie prop, but was so popular that it marks the corner to this day.

The Walt Disney Studios

There are only seven sound stages on the Disney lot. The other studios have more, and it is common practice for the various studios to rent each other’s sound stages. And while disney has fewer sound stages, it also has the largest sound stage on the west coast, Sound stage 2 (shown below). Note the High School Musical poster on the side of the building

The Walt Disney Studios

We didn’t get to peak inside any of the sound stages, but we did see other interesting landmarks like the Water Tower.

The Walt Disney Studios

And they even took us inside the archives for a few minutes.

The Walt Disney Studios

There where artifacts that really surprised me, like letterhead of Walt Disney’s backyard railroad, the Carolwood Pacific.

The Walt Disney Studios

And even one of Walt’s buisness cards, from his days before Mickey Mouse!

The Walt Disney Studios

And something I found personaly enjoyed, Sharpay’s hat from High School Musical 2.

The Walt Disney Studios

It was certainly an interesting day at the Walt Disney Studios.

Sunny/Sonny With A Chance

Posted on: Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008 in: Disney Channel News, Web Design Projects

Remember Welcome to Mollywood?

Well, I just learned that Mollywood is now called Sunny With A Chance. Damn. Well, I guess I just won’t renew welcome-to-mollywood.com

But I’m not done with idea. Especially because I really do like Demi now.

So I did a quick check on sunnywithachance.com and found it’s been registered to Disney. So they’re serious about this new name. And sunnywithachance.net was also taken.

So I grabbed sunnywithachance.org for as a possible SDS afiliated site (should it ever be needed) and sunny-with-a-chance.com as a future fansite.

Hopefully they won’t change the name again.

EDIT:

So according to Zei and JustJared, it’s Sonny with a Chance. I checked and Disney registered sonnywithachance.com as well. So I decided to register sonnywithachance.org and sonny-with-a-chance.com. I swear, I better like this show after all of this!

I’ve had it!

I haven’t had any serious problems for a while, but today DC Fans was down more or less all day – and it took half my other websites (including this one) with it.

It’s going to a pain – a major pain -but I’ve purchased a new separate hosting account just for DC Fans and have begun transferring the site to the new host.

Also, here’s an article about how taller people are happier.

Disneyland Pin Signing

Posted on: Thursday, September 18th, 2008 in: Adventures in La La Land

So last Saturday, I went to Disneyland for a Nightmare Before Christmas Pin signing. To get my wristband for the signing, I had to get there early, really early. So early in fact, that I wasn’t even in the parking structure!

Pinocchio Parking Lot

I got my wristband, and reached the center plaza about 15 minutes before the opening of Disneyland. Which was kinda cool, as I had never been there that early before.

And when I was in line, I spotted a man wearing a KP Backpack!

Anyway, once I got into the park, I headed over to the pin signing area. And though a door I never even knew existed!

Once we got through the door, we went down in to what I heard was once the waiting area for the Rocket Sleds. It was f-ing freezing down there!

Down in the line…
Down in the line…

Eventually, I was able to get my pins, and meet the artist.

A September long ago…

Posted on: Tuesday, September 16th, 2008 in: Web Design Projects

So it occurred to me that the one year anniversary of the last time I spoke to Jade was this month, so I decided to waste some time and figure out the exact date.

I started by looking in AIM because she liked that better than YIM (should have known that was bad omen).

The AIM logs end at Friday, April 06, 2007. So maybe I didn’t have logging set up properly. I don’t know. I did find this little gem interesting though:

Greg:    I hear it requires 2GB of hard disk space. O.O
Jade:    I don’t understand computer talk.
Jade:    Lol.
Greg:    … “hard disk space” is complex computer talk? LOL
Jade:    I don’t know how much gigabytes are.
Greg:    1GB = 1,000MB =1,000,000 KB = 1,000,000,00 Bytes = 7,000,000,00 bits
Jade:    BUT I DONT KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS
Greg:    The letter A is one byte.
Jade:    But the “byte” is still unknown.
Greg:    A byte is how much space is required to write 7 0s or 1s.
Greg:    011001 is seven bits, and one byte that represents one letter.
Greg:    This is very basic information in the field of complex computer operation.
Jade:    Bleck.
Greg:    You don’t care how it works as long as it gives you porn, I mean, stuff you like, right?
Jade:    I don’t really even do things.
Jade:    I just download music.

And that was the same day that she who doesn’t get computers was promoted to global mod on SDS!

Greg:     Your name is in yellow now. :-)
Jade:    Ahaha woot.
Jade:    Thaaaaaaaaaaanks.
Greg:     Try not to go power mad like Zei or Myself. :P
Jade:    But I’m still scard aha
Jade:    Lol.
Jade:    I WILL OWN SDS
Greg:    Agh! Another one! *hides* :P
Jade:    Haha; I wouldn’t do anything.
Jade:    Haha, watch you come home one day to check SDS and it’s all screwed up.
Jade:    By accident. Like, no sarcasm here at all. Alllll by accident.
Greg:     … Right.
Greg:     Try to keep that from happening. :P

Oh, and this is interesting. It has nothing to do with the rest of the conversation it was a part of

Greg:     *Looks at Jump In listing on Amazon*
Jade:    Lol.
Greg:    I’m not buying it. :P
Jade:    JERK!
Jade:    Just kidding.
Greg:    Unlike you, I don’t want to have sex with Corbin. Therefore, there is no reason for me to buy it.
Jade:    Grr.

I swear, I was blind to all sorts of lawlessness!

Jade:    I want to go to bed but nooooooooooo
Jade:    My cousin wants me to pick him up sometime.
Greg:    It’s after 2AM there. I wouldn’t pick up anyone at 2AM. :P
Jade:    I picked him up at 4am once.
Greg:    Well, don’t. :P
Jade:    AND..I never renewed my license so I can get in trouble for driving after midnight. Lol.
Greg:    … That’s not funny.
Jade:    Lol.
Jade:    I know.
Jade:    But it is.
Greg:    Until you get pulled over. :P
Jade:    True/
Jade:    I will just cry.
Jade:    Cry to get out of the ticket, Greg.
Jade:    Crap; we’re scaring me now.
Jade:    Lol.

So… right, I was figuring out the last time I spoke with her. According to YIM, it looks to be September 3rd 2007. which seems odd, I thought it was only about a week before my birthday.

And actually, I know it was after that. Because she (claimed she) had purchaced the HM2 CD to get the Mileyword free month pass and was telling me how she didn’t get said pass:

Jade: MY CD DIDN’T COME WITH IT
Jade: I AM PISSED

And several days later, I gave her the code from my CD, ’cause I wasn’t gonna use it.

So in conclusion, I set out to figure out a date and only succeded in reading though a lot of logs. Oh well.

While I’m at it, here’s a classic conversation with Baby Z:

Zei:    All you have to do is e-mail them, state who we are and what we stand for (use the same template for every site for Chrissakes) and ask if we can be affiliates – if not, just link us on their site. If we start getting affiliates, we’ll need button space at the bottom.
Greg:    Oh, I can do that.
Zei:    What did you think I meant?
Zei:    Having sex with all the owners to get the site info?
Zei:    No, you’d always have time for sex
Zei:    :P

Greg Gutfeld, Blogs, and Cheerleaders

Posted on: Tuesday, September 16th, 2008 in: Web Design Projects

Tonight on Red Eye, Greg Gutfeld said the following:

And as for being internet savvy, I’d rather have a president who talks tough, instead of some dude known for his snarky emails. I don’t want my president Googling his name, reading celebrity sightings on Gawker, or leaving anonymous comments on TMZ. Our country is already turning into a nation of twelve year old girls, looking for popular kids to sign their yearbook – except those yearbooks are now blogs, and those blogs don’t even have hot pictures of cheerleaders with eating disorders.

And my goodness, he’s so right, it’s scary.

And yes I know this is a blog. But this one has hot cheerleaders!

If i had a point when I started this post, I’ve surely lost it by now.

Halloween, Hannah, and Hoes

Posted on: Monday, September 15th, 2008 in: Disney Channel News

So I got am email from Amazon letting me know about a special promotion they where having on Halloween costumes.

Dear Amazon Associate:

From now through Sept. 30, you can tell your readers to save money on costumes by shopping early. Customers spending $50 on costumes and accessories from a single merchant can get $10 off plus free shipping.

Amazon.com’s Costume Store makes it easy for you to shop thousands of costumes in one place. From Harry Potter to Batman to Tinkerbell, we have costumes for every man, woman, and child. We even have costumes for pets. Complete your look with wigs, masks, hats, shoes and other accessories.

So I click on the link to buy costumes just to see what they have and If I should pass along the link.

And I’m shocked by all the Hannah Montana stuff I see.

At least there was ONE Sharpay outfit.

…even if the girl wearing it is hideous.

Although, being hideous didn’t stop then 19 year old Jade from dressing up as Hannah last year. Yeah, that’s right, I went there.

So yeah… if anyone wants to save $10 on Halloween costumes, click here. The offer ends September 30.

New YouTube videos

Posted on: Thursday, September 11th, 2008 in: Adventures in La La Land

I’ve uploaded a few new Disneyland Videos to YouTube.

Disneyland Monorail Blue – On my last trip, I observed that they had begun operation of the new Blue Monorail! I was at the Tomorrowland train station waiting for the train to take me over to New Orleans Square and wasn’t able to ride it at the time. And later in the day, it wasn’t running, so I haven’t been on it yet!

Disneyland Monorail Towed – This video was from last July, at least a month before the new blue monorail began operation. In this video, the lone remaining Mark V monorail is towed by the maintenance and utility vehicle.

Backstage at Indiana Jones – I was on the Indiana Jones ride when it suffered a brake down back in July. As they where walking us off the ride, I pulled out my camera to document the hidden areas most never see. And got yelled at for it!

New Debby Ryan Domain

Debby Ryan
Debby Ryan

debbyryanmusic.com is my newest domain name. It’s modeled after that fact that Hollywood Records usually registers the _music.com domain of their artists, and for once I could actually beat them to it!
