When technology is the problem, not the cure…

Posted on: Wednesday, April 9th, 2008 in: School Daze

Well, my pocket PC seems to be dying.

I plugged it in overnight to charge and when I unplugged it this morning it was still at 33% power remaining. I figured it must be my charging cable that wore out, so I attached it to my car charger durring the drive to Riverside, when I checked it an hour later, it was still at 33%.

I have to try more stuff when I get home, but either my battery is shot, or the unit can’t re-charge anymore. I have another battery, somewhere, so I guess I’ll try that next. But if it’s the unit itself that can’t charge, I really can’t use it anymore. And they haven’t made stand alone PDAs like it in years, I don’t think. Maybe I’ll have to get one of them crazy new PDA-Phone Hybrid things.

Bio Lab – The final frontier

Posted on: Wednesday, March 19th, 2008 in: School Daze

For our last bio lab last thursday, we took a journey out to the UCR botanical gardens.

Wow. Plants. Amazing. *eye roll*

To get to out last plant, we had to get to it. And my partner sugested a route that seemed okay at first, but would ultimately require walking higher than if we had taken any other path. Oh well, at least I was able to take this interesting picture of the campus:

Finally, on the way back down, we ran across a snake on the path! John-Mark stopped dead in his tracks when he spotted it. I was like, “What is it?” And he was like, “Some sort of snake.” So I moved closer so I could actually see it (he was walking ahead of me). And when I saw it, I was like “Oh, it’s just a Rosy Boa. It’s harmless.” So I tock a picture to share with you blog readers. Yep.

And that was the botanical gardens. Glad I never have to do that again.

Engineering Vista Wallpapers? (AKA: Random Blog #1)

Posted on: Friday, January 25th, 2008 in: School Daze

So last night I left my laptop running for an hour and when I came back the screen was blank. Not sure what was wrong with it, I tried a ctrl-alt-del and the computer instantly powered off proceeded to re-boot. I never was able to get it to boot  after about an hour of trying. I don’t know what’s wrong with and will have to try a few other things.

So today I took my older laptop to school with me, and that’s what I’m using to write this post now. I met my ME175B group in the Mechanical Engineering Lab today and pulled out my laptop because I needed Internet access and there where no more working computers available in the lab. I normally change up my computer wallpaper every couple weeks, but once I stopped using this computer I  left the current one up. So when everyone saw this:

I got to spend a few minutes discussing what I thought of Lindsay and Hilary. This was never my favorite wallpaper, but I do still think it’s a decent photo of Hilary. Anyway, I then decided to change my wallpaper to something a little more appropriate:

And then I had to explain who Ashley Tisdale is! LOL

The weirdest thing is, when Nick asked me who she was, my first reaction was to say “She was in High School Musical 2.” Why did I add the 2? Just saying “High School Musical” or “Disney Channel” probably would have been better. Oh well, not important.

I hope I can get my primary laptop back up and running. I have Hayden Panettiere as my new desktop only on that machine. Actually, I do have a thumbnail of it:

But I don’t have the full size or the source file to remake it. :(

Thoughts on Iowa

Posted on: Thursday, January 3rd, 2008 in: School Daze

Anyway, Hilary got a political whipping tonight in Iowa. Obama beat her by 9% and Edwards managed to edge her out as well. So much for being inevitable! Laughing

On the republican side, Huckabee beat Romney by, one again, a 9% margin. I’m still for Guliani, but I like Huckabee and am quite pleased that Romney didn’t win.

Five days ’til New Hampshire! Grin

Oh the world in which we live…

Three random news articles, each of which kinda creeped me out.
